11 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (24 Sept)

9. Brevity Is Key

Kevin Owens Shane McMahon

Keeping the Kevin Owens/Shane McMahon People's Court segment short was a wise move. With many fans burnt out on the angle, stretching their back-and-forth for 15-20 minutes would've killed any remaining anticipation for their forthcoming showdown, even with the promise of Shane's departure in the event of a defeat. Props to WWE for that, and the performances were on point as well.

McMahon came out with a gang of lawyers, saying that he'd keep KO in court for years for his "frivolous" lawsuit and drain him financially. The former Commissioner gave his rival the chance of a keen slate if he dropped said lawsuit, but Owens declined, called Shane an idiot, and said that while he hates going legal, he hates McMahon's presence even more. It's not about money, but getting rid of a tyrant.

This led to Owens throwing down the ladder match challenge for next week's FOX debut and Shane's silent acceptance. Finally, we're getting a resolution. Here's hoping it's concrete and not another swerve.
