11 Ups & 5 Downs From Impact Wrestling (May 12)
1. A Fighting 'Champion'
While the tournament to crown the next challenger for Tessa Blanchard's World Championship began this week, the TNA World Heavyweight Championship was up for grabs in the main event as Moose defended against Suicide. Once again, oblivious Moose is the best Moose possible.
'Mr Impact Wrestling' was on top form throughout the championship contest, dumping 'The Masked Man of Mystery' all over the place, including a brutal apron powerbomb that would have brought a smile to Kevin Owens. What made the match that extra bit special was when referee Brandon Tolle was taken out inadvertently, allowing the champion to use a low blow that helped lead into the No Jackhammer Needed. There was absolutely no need for a man the size of Moose to resort to cheap tactics to put away a man half his size.
From an in-ring perspective, this match far exceeded expectations. Despite the obvious size difference, the pair worked marvelously together, with Suicide being a good lad to chuck around, and Moose being (unsurprisingly) agile for his size. The flips he achieved from the various Frankensteiners were a delight to the eyes.
If there's been one good wrestling-related thing to come from these unprecedented events, it's been the likes of Moose having the chance to be unnecessarily obnoxious, more so than usual anyway.
