11 Ups & 5 Downs From Impact Wrestling (May 12)

3. Do Your Research

Sami Callihan cut quite a scathing promo on Michael Elgin, just a week before they clash in the opening round of the World Championship number one contender's tournament. It was all going fine, a standard piece-to-camera for the former World Champion in terms of his structure and presentation. However, one thing was wrong, and sadly, it was the most important piece.

'The Draw' claimed that he has the advantage over Michael Elgin whenever they've faced off before, which isn't quite right. If we're just talking about Impact Wrestling, then yes, Sami has one over on Elgin as he and Tessa Blanchard defeated Elgin and Willie Mack as well as two other tandems during last summer's MashUp Tournament. If we're talking their whole careers though, which Sami was doing, then it's actually 'Big Mike' who has the superior win/loss record.

According to a Cagematch search, the pair have been involved in 11 matches together, both singles and multi-man. Of those, Callihan has won three, Elgin has won six, and they teamed together twice. Their most recent singles match came in June 2017, where Sami retained the AAW Heavyweight Championship.

It's always appreciated when a promotion acknowledges the careers had by their roster members before they arrived, like what's been happening recently with Havok, Nevaeh, and Kimber Lee. When it's wrong though, it reflects badly. Not a major issue, but considering it was a performer himself making the comments, it needs to be addressed.
