The WWE roster has a lot of talent, but many of the guys on the main roster right now aren't considered future main eventers. When it comes to people in NXT, they have the benefit of not being exposed to the main roster and could be considered future top guys. Two names that immediately come to mind are Finn Balor and Samoa Joe. Guys like Baron Corbin and Apollo Crews have an outside shot too. The problem with calling up Balor or Joe right now is that they are likely going to headline the NXT Takeover London event in December. Kevin Owens appeared on WWE TV as the NXT Champion, but that sort of thing is rare and may not happen again soon. It wouldn't be a shock if one or two of those guys are on the main roster by January. Maybe if Rollins was around it would have been a lot longer. There's really no way of knowing for sure.
