3. Jay Lethal

The same as many other names on this list, TNA flirted with the idea of truly getting behind Jay Lethal but ended up being too afraid of truly pulling the trigger.

Lethal would go from big story to nothing to big story to nothing. He was stuck doing an impersonation gimmick for the most part, a state of affairs that he still managed to turn into gold.

If you wanted an example of a truly effective way to book a pro wrestler, look no further than Ring of Honor's treatment of Lethal over the last few years.

The company made a conscious decision early on to get behind Lethal and give him a sustained push, which led to him sitting proudly today as a dominant world champion and as one of the best wrestlers in the world.

I bet he still does a sweet Ric Flair impression though.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
