Fired: This isn't a WWF/WWE one, admittedly.

During his near two-year run in WCW, Sean '1-2-3 Kid/X-Pac/Syxx' Waltman was fired and then rehired almost immediately because the company needed him to do a job. On his podcast, Waltman revealed that Eric Bischoff released him after he'd pulled Ric Flair's trunks down on TV.

Rehired: Bischoff (and WCW higher-ups) had a change of heart quickly. The company relented on Syxx's firing and brought him back on the spot when they realised he was supposed to lose to Diamond Dallas Page that night on Monday Nitro; according to Waltman, things happened that fast. He was gone for 'unprofessional conduct' one minute, then rehired and back in the ring the next to put Page over.

A few months later, Bischoff would fire Syxx for real (reportedly to send a message to his running buddies Kevin Nash and Scott Hall). Waltman would dance off back to the WWF, become X-Pac and join D-Generation X. Things worked out pretty well for him then.
