11 Wrestling Easter Eggs You Totally Didn't Notice

3. Ric Flair's Red Flag

Ric Flair made an odd sartorial choice when he was asked to look at the lights: in big matches in the prime of his career, he'd wear red trunks.

Most famously, Flair wore red when on the losing end to Randy Savage at WrestleMania VIII, relinquishing the golden eagle, and he also wore red when dropping the NWA World Title to Ricky Steamboat the Chi-Town Rumble three years prior. This can't be a coincidence.

This only became obvious after the fact. It wasn't a spoiler. He didn't wear boo boo trunks, and God bless pro wrestling for that even standing a chance of being a real thing.

He hasn't explained why years after the fact, but perhaps he wished to disassociate his more attentive fans from the image of their losing hero; that way, when he wore the triumphant baby blue, he would resonate once more as the record-holding World Champion with a pristine record of brilliance.

Unforgivably, he wore royal blue at WrestleMania XXIV, the site of his career-ending match with Shawn Michaels, thereby failing to reward nerdy long-term fans with one last glorious detail.

Likely because he knew he had no intentions of honouring the stip, the awld f*cker.
