11 Wrestling Movies You’ve Never Heard Of

10. The Backyard (2002)

This documentary on the car crash lives of America€™s backyard wrestlers and the odd little sub-subculture that they represent is intelligently produced and has an fascinating story to tell about both the American teenager and backyard wrestling as a niche market within the already niche market of professional wrestling. Most of the footage is of amateur performers the average punter won€™t know from Adam, hitting each other with found foreign objects for the amusement of drunks, teenagers and teenaged drunks€ that said, it€™s not without a certain level of appeal, if you€™re a fan of the €˜hardcore€™ garbage match. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMLpNilRQP4 ECW, WWE and TNA alumnus Rob Van Dam makes a brief appearance to legitimise the film, but it€™s not about him. For better or for worse, The Backyard is dedicated to the kids and young men who decided to Try This At Home. Thirteen or so years later, we€™re just concerned about how many of them are still in one piece.
