Look out, WWE stars. Danhausen's curse giving and curse lifting is affecting sports!

Danhausen has bagged WWE some quick mainstream news coverage due to his fun curse giving and curse lifting during the NBA playoffs. Initially, the quirky wrestler placed a comedic curse on the New York Knicks by way of ESPN anchor Stephen A. Smith in April.

Later, during a paid Cameo, Danhausen lifted that curse on the Knicks and put it over the heads of the Atlanta Hawks instead. Hilariously, the Knicks then eliminated the Hawks from the playoffs by winning the series 4-2. Then, after the Knicks beat the Philadelphia 76ers in the Conference Semi Finals, WWE's favourite menace placed another curse on their next opponents: Cleveland Cavaliers.

Danhausen also attended the first game in that Conference Final, which the Knicks won 115-104. The New York team has since gone on to enjoy a 4-0 clean sweep as they breezed into the NBA Finals (where they'll meet either Oklahoma City or San Antonio - the Thunder and Spurs are currently tied 2-2).

The Knicks are into the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, and mainstream news has been jokingly crediting Danhausen for making it happen. TKO, Triple H and other members of WWE management must be pleased by all of this silliness. It's free (and positive) press for the company.

Danhausen has been a surprise smash hit after debuting in a derided segment back at Elimination Chamber. Since being unfavourably compared to The Gobbledy Gooker, he's gone on to sell a ton of merchandise and appear in popular segments/matches aplenty across Raw and SmackDown.
