Tag team wrestling was considered pretty much dead and buried in the late 90s. The eighties had been full of cracking tag teams but by the time the Attitude Era rolled around all you were left with was basically teams such as The Headbangers, The New Midnight Express and LOD 2000.

Okay, so you still had some decent teams like the New Age Outlaws and the Acolytes but, apart from that, it was pretty bleak. Thankfully, 1999 saw the injection of some fresh talent in the scene which would help revitalise the division and carry to new heights (literally) in the early 2000s.

The rivalry between The Hardy Boys, Dudley Boys and Edge & Christian was a true highlight of WWE programming between 2000 and 2002 and their ladder, table and TLC matches were must-see TV. Regardless of how often they squared off with one another, it was always nothing less than entertaining and often ended up stealing the whole show.

The three teams were responsible for putting tag team wrestling back on the map in a big way.
