11 WWE Rivalries That Defined The 2000s

1. Triple H Vs. The Rock

The Great One and The Game were two of the biggest stars in the Attitude Era and clashed on many occasions in the late 90s, but their rivalry really intensified in 2000 in the absence of top stars like Stone Cold and The Undertaker.

It was up to The Rock and Triple H to pick up the slack and carry the main events, which they did with aplomb. Their supercard matches at WrestleMania (w/Mick Foley and Big Show), Backlash, Judgement Day and SummerSlam (w/Kurt Angle) were all A-one.

Although there is a strong argument that Rocky should have walked out of WrestleMania 2000 as WWE Champion, one need only to go back and watch their Backlash match to see that not doing so didn't really do him any harm at all. Anything to prolong this great rivalry should have been welcomed.

Rock's Hollywood commitments and Triple H's 2001 injury meant that their rivalry was pretty much confined to the year 2000 (outside of an August 12th, 2002 Raw main event) but, despite that, it gets the top spot here.

It was the hottest thing going during what was arguably WWE's hottest ever year.
