WWE's chosen one is almost unrecognisable in this early picture. Leati "Joe" Anoa'i was a tall kid with a little muscle, but he certainly didn't look like a future WWE superstar. He was athletic enough that he had some early success in football, making it as far as the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars. However, the NFL wasn't to be and he ended up released in 2008. It was 2010 before WWE came calling. Upon signing with the group, he was used as the prototype for WWE's new developmental system. He was literally built from the ground up as a pro wrestler, having no previous experience, despite his family's background in the business. He's yet to show the same sort of skill as his relatives The Usos, The Rock or Rikishi. But he's getting there. WWE have bet their future on him and at 29 he's got time on his side to establish his championship credentials.
