There is still a chance for WWE to give Candice LeRae the best run of her career, but they have taken their sweet time in getting her into a position of prominence. LeRae signed with WWE in 2017 and did a whole lot of nothing for the first couple of years, mostly losing on NXT TV and occasionally getting involved in her husband Johnny Gargano's neverending feud with Tommaso Ciampa. Gargano and LeRae are now closely allied on NXT TV and the future could be very exciting indeed for Candice.

You need to travel back to 2014 for the finest run of her career. It came in PWG of all places, a promotion not exactly famous for its love of women's wrestling. PWG founder Super Dragon has gone on record in stating his disinterest in booking women for either women's or intergender matches, which explains the lack of women in the promotion's history. Only a small number of females have competed for PWG, and none of them have come close to the impact that LeRae had.

Teaming with Joey Ryan as the World's Cutest Tag Team, LeRae took the promotion by storm in a series of matches across 2013 and 2014, taking part in an increasingly violent feud with The Young Bucks. The feud ended with LeRae and Ryan winning the PWG World Tag Team Championships, making Candice the only female championship winner in the promotion's history.

There were plenty of thrilling singles matches as well, including a PWG World Championship challenge against Adam Cole that lives long in the memory.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
