What is WWE's issue with Michael Hutter? Even back to when the then-curly haired mountain of charisma was billed as Derrick Bateman, the biggest wrestling promotion on the planet seems to have some sort of fear when it comes to booking him in any sort of meaningful fashion. There was a hope that this was a thing of the past when Hutter returned to WWE in 2018, but boy oh boy how silly do we all look now.

Impact Wrestling had the right idea. They billed him as EC3, the spoilt nephew of then-owner Dixie Carter, a member of the 1% and a man not afraid to flaunt his wealth and genetic superiority. It worked an absolute charm, and it wasn't long before EC3 was one of the biggest stars in the company. He was given the ball from the start and ran with it, becoming a genuine superstar in the process.

EC3 was a two-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion but that doesn't tell the whole story. It was in the much-maligned confines of the Impact Zone that Michael Hutter showed the world that potential can be realised, that he was a professional wrestler with plenty to give and even more to prove. That WWE has squandered this on more than one occasion is a huge indictment of the creative team in Connecticut.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
