12 Best WWE Pay-Per-Views That Didn't Have A World Title Match
2. Survivor Series 2014
Wrestling history was made when the last 'Iconic' WWE hold-out from the 1980s and 1990s at long last made his entrance into the company at the climax of Survivor Series 2014's main event.
Appearing as a vigilante to the disbelief of Triple H as he ran interference at the tail end of the Team Cena/Team Authority contest, Sting represented the most unlikely of saviours for the babyface alliance desperate to bring down the malevolent Authority.
An absorbing main event thanks to the giant ramifications (that were sadly cast aside only a month later), the battle also gave Dolph Ziggler a moment that could and should have made him a permanent topliner.
Overcoming innumerable odds after having final Authority member Seth Rollins beat twice, Ziggler's momentum was dashed by Triple H playing spoiler by decking referees and hitting Dolph himself with a Pedigree.
That triggered the unthinkable arrival of 'The Stinger', who dropped 'The Game' with a Scorpion Death Drop and allowed Ziggler to pin Rollins for the victory.
On the undercard, Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt had the best match they were capable of, Team Fox and Team Paige showed flashes of a brighter future in the female division, and the enormously popular Miz and Mizdow became Tag Team Champions in an engaging fatal four-way title match.
