9. Survivor Series 1988

Though not quite on a par with the original, WWE's return to Cleveland, Ohio for the second annual edition of the Survivor Series provided a wealth of outstanding in-ring action and some superb inter-match storylines the elimination tag format would become famous for.

The tag teams elimination match stole the show for the second year running, with a flurry of quickfire action in the early going as multiple babyfaces teed off on the vast mix of heels.

As with the previous year, the visual of the in-ring battle surrounded by partners and opponents created memorable visuals and even concluded with a double turn as Mr Fuji abandoned his champions Demolition for fellow Road Warrior knock-offs The Powers of Pain.

The main event was a Randy Savage tour-de-force, as the WWE Champion dominated the best of the physicality in the early going, before taking one of the company's great sh*tkickings from the heels as last remaining partner Hulk Hogan was handcuffed to the ropes.

After the brutality towards 'The Hulkster' saw The Twin Towers both disqualified, Haku was left to pick the bones of Savage before turning his attention to Hogan, but manager Slick's arrogance was his undoing.

Hulk floored the cocky manager, affording Miss Elizabeth time to lift the key from his pocket and enable Hogan to save the day. It was exquisite MegaPowers drama, and subtly forwarded their own angle as Macho shot daggers at his partner for an over-zealous hug with 'The First Lady of Wrestling'.
