7. Royal Rumble 1990
The captivating mid-Rumble stand-off between Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior headlined the best edition of the show since it's 1988 inception.
Coming before WWE inserted the stipulation that the winner would go on to WrestleMania, the WWE Champion was eligible to enter, allowing 'The Hulkster' a spot (and eventual victory) alongside Intercontinental Champion Warrior and the bulk of WWE's heaving roster.
On a dynamite undercard, Ronnie Garvin and Greg Valentine worked a minor miracle in their Submission match while The Genius bounced around for a Brutus Beefcake in the form of his life. But the real magic came in the beloved battle royal.
A star-studded affair that has since sadly seen the passing of over a third of the field, the 1990 30-man war was a gripping contest from start to finish. That year's iron man Ted Dibiase carried the load in the early going with fellow Hall-of-Famers Jake Roberts, Randy Savage and Roddy Piper, before the WrestleMania 6 headliners had their aforementioned epic sequence.
Following Warrior's controversial elimination via a Hulk clothesline to the heels attempting to dump him, Hogan wrapped emphatically wrapped things up with the first of his two Rumble wins, becoming the only man to win the match as reigning WWE Champion.
