Kazuchika Okada has been locked in a months-long battle with Jay White ever since the Switchblade turned and joined the Bullet Club. Prior to the World Tag League, Okada was saved from a BC beatdown by an unlikely ally - former rival Hiroshi Tanahashi. New Japan's version of the Mega Powers were formed, but they were unable to get the job done against the Club - losing every match they had against White and his group.

On December 14th, Okada got a chance to exact revenge on Gedo - his former manager who betrayed him alongside White. Despite interference from Jado and White, the Rainmaker defeated his former friend and got his first taste of victory over the Bullet Club. However, the next night's match would prove less successful as Okada's Chaos team was defeated by White and the Bullet Club. The Rainmaker charged the ring after the bout but was again beatdown by the group.

The Rainmaker will finally get the Switchblade in one-on-one competition come 4 January. The question remains, however, can Okada finally defeat White or has the Rainmaker's momentum been permanently derailed since losing the IWGP title and engaging in a war with Jay White?
