The Women of Honor World title was first announced at last year’s Final Battle and a subsequent tournament took place during the first half of 2018 to crown an inaugural champion. Veteran Japanese star Sumie Sakai managed to best Kelly Klein in the final to become the first title holder, but on Friday she had to defend her belt in a Four Corner Survival.

Karen Q was the first to be eliminated following Klein's K Power. Defending champ Sakai followed up with her Smash Mouth to Rayne but was unable to score the pin as Klein tossed her aside and eliminated the former TNA Knockouts Champion herself. Sakai was left to fend with the impressive Klein who dominated most of the match. Eventually, both women found themselves jockeying for the advantage on the top rope, but Klein managed to hit another K Power from the top and with it secured the win.

Unfortunately, the Women of Honor division had a bit of a rocky start in 2018. While Sumie Sakai’s tournament win was a feel-good moment, her lengthy reign proved uninspiring. Now, with Kelly Klein as champion, she will need a stable of impressive challengers to help her build up the title -- unfortunately, the Women of Honor roster isn’t that deep, though there are a few competitors who could break out in the coming year.
