The NXT champion has had an immense impact in a short amount of time since joining WWEs developmental program. Owens arrived to much hype and in his very first onscreen appearance was already thrust into the main event angle and made a championship contender. K.O. is quite similar to the man who called himself The Voice Of The Voiceless, in that he built a tremendous following on the indie scene before making the jump to the big leagues, and while yes, he has quite a few outstanding matches under his belt for Owens, like Punk, its all about the character work. Both men have done the majority of their best work on the heel side of things, excelling at drawing legitimate heat, but each has a propensity for garnering grassroots fan support that turn them into something of a folksy, anti-hero to the people. In addition, CM Punk was also an unlikely WWE superstar a man who didnt fit the typical company mold but forged an incredibly successful career for himself through sheer talent and determination, and Owens looks poised to do the same.
