The main event of WrestleMania XIV may be the most important match in the history of WWE. Not only was it the culmination of Steve Austin's journey to the top of the industry and heavyweight championship glory, it was also the blend of wrestling and celebrity that originally made 'Mania the most must-see event of the year. "Iron" Mike Tyson was the special referee for the match and his presence alone brought many a new pair of eyes to the product. With millions watching around the world, and media outlets across the globe picking up on the extravaganza, Michaels and Austin delivered a main event match that featured the intestinal fortitude of the Heartbreak Kid and the tenacity of the Texas Rattlesnake. It was a hard-hitting match that somehow incorporated great drama, despite the fact that everyone knew Austin was leaving with the title. Despite his relationship with D-Generation X leading into the show, Tyson counted the fall, then raised Austin's arm in victory, providing WWE and its Attitude Era with a defining photo op.
