12 Duos That Helped Changed Tag Team Wrestling Forver
3. The Hart Foundation
There have been few tag teams in wrestling history that had a winning formula from the very beginning and didnt need to change that much over the years, but the Hard Foundation was one of them. The original team of Bret the Hitman Hart and Jim the Anvil Neidhart was one of the best teams at providing contrasting styles that complemented each other perfectly. Bret was the smaller, more agile technician who emphasized psychology, while Neidharts power and toughness allowed him to overpower anyone who might have an advantage over his smaller teammate. But despite that contrast in styles, both men were trained by Stu Hart, and thus possessed a degree of technical skill that was virtually unmatched in WWE. Furthermore, the Hart Foundation thrived in WWE without having an outlandish gimmick; they were presented as nothing more than highly-skilled wrestlers that happened to be related. Because of this simplicity, they allowed for their wrestling to do the talking for them, which translated into several classic tag team matches against many different opponents. From 1985 to 1991, the Hart Foundation was responsible for putting on a large number of great matches that elevated both the Foundation members themselves and the division they competed in. By the time the team disbanded, both men were much bigger stars, with Bret in particular becoming a main-event star in the process of teaming with Neidhart. In the end, the Hart Foundations legacy is one of outstanding matches, great tag team psychology, and a mechanism to elevate tag team wrestlers into singles superstars.
