12 Huge AEW Double Or Nothing 2022 Predictions You Need To Know

3. Wardlow vs. MJF

The parallels between MJF vs. Wardlow and Max's star-making 2020 run opposite Cody Rhodes have helped define this storyline's past few weeks, though AEW has done plenty to differentiate them at the same time.

MJF laid out a near-identical roadmap to the one used to get to Revolution 2020. A ban on physical contact, belt lashes, and steel cage match were positioned as pre-PPV hurdles. But where Cody buckled under Max's belt, selling the torturous, physical struggle, Wardlow grinned through the pain. Where Rhodes climbed above the big man in a valiant display of his own endeavour, Wardlow endured unending shenanigans from MJF, Shawn Spears, and the lopsided ruleset, coming out of it looking like the baddest man on the planet.

Given how AEW has flipped the Cody feud so far, flipping the pay-per-view outcome may be on the agenda. This isn't reason enough for Wardlow to win, admittedly, but freeing him of his restrictive MJF contract would allow him to explore fresh babyface territory without the man he was once employed to protect. MJF, meanwhile, would develop new layers from suffering the biggest, most embarrassing loss of his run to date.

Anyway, this is the best built program on the card and it isn't even close. Sterling stuff from both men, with MJF now the clear TV wrestler of the year so far.

Winner: Wardlow
