12 Huge AEW Double Or Nothing 2022 Predictions You Need To Know

12. Hookhausen vs. Tony Nese & 'Smart' Mark Sterling

Hookhausen Tony Nese Mark Sterling
AEW

AEW's use of Hook remains perfect, with the promotion continuing to do an excellent job of gradually pushing the hugely over hip toss machine through the roster while mitigating the risk of burnout.

As popular as he is - and as awesome as he has looked - Hook is still a young, green wrestler unproven beyond simple squashes. Those immense crowd reactions would've prompted a lesser promoter to thrust him into a title scene, potentially exposing his weaknesses in a way that could deal long-term damage. Not here. Hook operates primarily on the undercard, dealing with goober heel after goober heel, advancing appropriately for his experience level.

Teaming with another insanely popular newcomer opposite two delusional bad guys makes a lot of sense for him at the moment. Hook and Danhausen will be a huge cult hit with the audience, if they aren't already, and this bout is perfectly calibrated for 'Smart' Mark Sterling to eat the dirt and do the job.

Add one of the best enhancement talents in the business, Tony Nese, to the equation, and you have ideal pre-show fodder.

Winners: Hookhausen
