12 Match Star Ratings For AEW Revolution 2022

8. Jurassic Express Vs. ReDRagon Vs. Young Bucks - AEW World Tag Title Three-Way Match

Jon Moxley
AEW

The expected story played out, but in such a fun way.

The Young Bucks and ReDRagon couldn't maintain the agreement struck prior to the match to help one another in it. They broke up pins at a one count, crucially. Jungle Boy was never treated like somebody who could have conceivably been pinned several times just to advance the story with cheap near-falls. It was the central theme of the match, and it was a stupendous Kyle O'Reilly comedy vehicle. His disingenuous, oblivious "I forgot!" line reading was outstanding in the early phase of the match, which - being a Young Bucks match on pay-per-view - was at the **** level before it even got going.

Jungle Boy was on superb form eating sh*t, Nick Jackson made his case for being the best wrestler on the planet, and Luchasaurus was determined to prove that he was more than an endearing hot tag gimmick. ReDRagon meanwhile were on lethal form, countering Jungle Boy's signature offence with killer strikes and submissions. They added a new dimension to the Bucks' high-octane multi-man where Jungle Boy, with his immense creativity, blew everybody in the arena away with various, mind-blowing modifications of his best sh*t.

Ultimately, these matches are as difficult to construct as they easy to pop for - and those pops rose in volume with every deliriously inventive sequence. Every spot was arrived at organically, too, even by Bucks standards. The spats between the Bucks and ReDRagon helped, when Luchasaurus landed his massive popper dives on an unaware and vulnerable mass of bodies, but in general this was so heady and seamless.

A spectacular spot-fest legitimised by martial arts brutality and lightened by a wicked sense of humour, this was breathless stuff.

Star Rating: ★★★★¾
