12 One-Time WWE Pay-Per-Views

1. Capitol Punishment (2011)

Nothing says family-friendly PG-era WWE like a pay-per-view that’s a pun on the death penalty.

Taking place in Washington DC, Capitol Punishment is known as the one show that R-Truth main-evented. Yes, R-Truth, the man who at the time of this writing in engaged with a feud with Goldust where the two are spouting movie quotes at each other in vignettes, was challenging John Cena for the WWE Championship in the main event of a pay-per-view.

Well... it’s different, at least.

It’s no surprise that this PPV is absolute filler, especially compared to the show that followed - Money in the Bank, considered by many to be one of the greatest and most important shows of the modern era.

Perhaps R-Truth’s main event heel run could have manifested into something greater, but unfortunately, CM Punk came along and shook up the entire company, getting Truth lost in the shuffle. As for the Capitol Punishment PPV itself... well, it’s a dumb pun, for one, and two, it only works if it’s actually done in DC, and who would want a yearly DC pay-per-view? (aside from people in DC, I suppose.)
