8. D-Generation X: In Your House (1997)

WWE Great Balls Of Fire

In late 1997, DX were the most pushed and prominent act in the WWF. So much so, they got their own PPV named and themed after them. What’s funny is that WCW did the same thing with their most popular heel stable, the nWo, leading to Souled Out - an atrocious show that’s considered one of the worst of all time. The WWF and DX didn’t fare better, as D-Generation X: In Your House is a rather tepid event featuring poor matches, shoddy finishes, and just a general lack of excitement.

However, it is notable for two aspects. One: it’s Ken Shamrock’s one and only WWF PPV main event, as he takes on Shawn Michaels for the WWF Championship. Two: this would be the first ever PPV between The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, as Austin would defeat Rock to retain the Intercontinental Championship (which he would then give to Rock weeks later because he said outright he didn’t care about it. Oh, Vince Russo).

Like many of these shows, it’s an interesting historical curiosity, but it’s obvious why DX did not become a yearly PPV staple.
