9. Ground Zero: In Your House (1997)
For the next six years, the WWF was consistent with its PPV names. Aside from the regular installments (WrestleMania, King of the Ring, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and Royal Rumble), they also introduced the In Your House series, which bridged the gaps between the larger PPVs.
Originally, the IYH shows started with the name In Your House, followed by a thematically appropriate subtitle (for example, IYH 2's video release, which had a lumberjack match in the main event was given the subtitle 'The Lumberjacks').
Starting with Ground Zero, they switched the names around. Now the subtitle took precedence while the “In Your House” name was relegated. This was likely due to the fact that Ground Zero was the first “B” show that was full length and charged at full price, so the switch was to signal to fans that these weren’t the IYH shows they knew before.
Despite being a relatively forgotten show, it does feature some interesting footnotes and trivia. Ground Zero features the first triple threat in WWF/E history, pitting Crush against Farooq against Savio Vega, a five-star classic to be sure. The show also featured Bret Hart, in his final world title reign before leaving the company, defending the WWF Championship against The Patriot in one of the coldest title feuds in history.
Finally, the main event featured Shawn Michaels against The Undertaker in a match that would lead to their much better-remembered classic inside Hell in a Cell.
My only guess as to why Ground Zero hasn’t made a comeback is because the name is so hopelessly generic (then again, with that logic, why do Payback and Battleground exist?)
