12 Perfect Ways To Retire Current WWE Gimmicks (And How)

12. Dolph Ziggler

"'80s metal dude" Dolph Ziggler is a fail. Of the many things that are failing Dolph Ziggler, let's consider that the fans being disallowed from having some sort of character connection to him is a problem. From "Zack Morris and 'Saved By the Bell'" knockoff to "'80s rock guy," neither of these characterizations actually feel like they're organically Dolph Ziggler in any way. They say that the easiest way to get a character over is to be yourself turned up to 110%. Yes, Dolph like metal. But WWE (and maybe Dolph too) are undercutting Ziggler's potential. The idea of Dolph coming out one week as just being a really awesome wrestler who wears tights and boots and is a witty promo? That could work. Some wrestlers don't need to be packaged as anything more than awesome wrestlers to be great. The best example of that in the modern age? Dolph Ziggler.
