12 Questions For Shawn Daivari

8. The Cost To Chase Your Dreams

Austin Aries X Division
Impact Wrestling

AS: How much does it cost to get in your school right now?

SD: So tuition is $3,000 for the year, and what we wanted to do for the first class is give everybody who dreamed about doing this an opportunity to do so. And the basis for this came from I broke in at the same time as Austin Aries, and we started a couple months apart. He dropped out of college, he was broke and up to his eyes and student loans.

He was a waiter and not making a lot of money, and we had to pay for our wrestling school weekly. Sometimes Aries couldn't come, because he didn't have any money, so his career progressed way slower for me and few other guys.

Obviously he got there and exceeded all of us as far as his talent and ability. But starting out, he was always behind everybody because of money. But we don't want that to happen. $1,000 to me is a number that if you're in a bind and had to come up with $1,000 we feel confident that a guy who works at McDonald's could do that.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
