12 Radical Ideas That Could Save WWE Smackdown

4. Give Smackdown A Face

Before heading off with this latest injury, Daniel Bryan wanted to be positioned as the €˜face€™ of Smackdown. His idea was that he could headline the B-show and make it important again: he knew that he€™d had most of the main event opportunities he was going to get, and wanted to create his very own main event, on a smaller stage. It could be Bryan: but it doesn€™t have to be. Take a popular performer, or maybe more than one, and make them Smackdown exclusive. We€™re not talking about a full brand split like in 2002 €“ just one, maybe two people who already have a name and a following, and give them the chance to lead the show, reinvent Smackdown, make it compelling, must-see television again. This could be the opportunity you need to bring Cesaro to the place he€™s always needed to get to. Want to see if he can handle the bright lights? Give him that smaller stage to light up first€ maybe against a heel Dolph Ziggler, or the Wyatts. At one point, it looked like Dean Ambrose could be that glorious cross between €˜the Loose Cannon€™ Brian Pillman and his former tag partner, €˜Stone Cold€™ Steve Austin. Stop giving him ridiculous Howling Mad Murdock comedy crap to do, and let him be his big-hearted, unpredictably loopy self. Give Smackdown to someone and let them run with it, make it their show€
