12 Reasons CM Punk Is The Most Hated Man In WWE Right Now

1. He Doesn't Miss Us, Or Wrestling

WWE.comWWE.comJericho, Heyman and Edge recently sat down for a long, very entertaining podcast interview on Talk Is Jericho, and one of the things that they discussed was CM Punk. Each man had their own story to tell about walking away from wrestling, but a shared perspective on it. The fact is that the life in professional wrestling is a Life, especially with WWE€™s schedule. There€™s little time for anything else €“ family, friends, vacation, rehabilitation, rest€ and that means that when you do finally take a long break, as Heyman did for five years or Jericho did for two, there€™s a degree of decompression and adjustment coming your way. They liken it to withdrawal, not just from wrestling itself or from the WWE, but from the whole scene. Edge himself, following his retirement due to degenerative issues in his neck, hasn€™t even watched any wrestling. Punk quit in January, posting what appeared to be a final tweet on January 27th simply saying, €œThanks for all the support. Keep being you guys, it€™s pretty cool.€ And then he went radio-silent for four months. For a compulsive tweeter, that€™s an impressive drop in traffic. Finally, CM Punk resumed use of his Twitter account on May 18th€ to go on about the hockey. We all know he€™s a hockey headcase, but really? Four months of intensive gossip, whispers and rumour mongering, and this is what we get? It€™s almost as if he has no interest in what we think and couldn€™t care less whether we€™re outraged at his refusal to talk about WWE, wrestling, his plans or whatever. Well of course he doesn€™t. Of course he couldn€™t. He€™s CM Punk. He€™s lived a life and worked a career around fierce independence and genuinely not giving a crap about what other people think. He€™s not responsible for our lives, or whether we choose to waste time arguing about whether a retired professional wrestler is actually retired or not. CM Punk€™s always done his own thing. For a long time, that thing was becoming one of the most celebrated and popular professional wrestlers in the world. Now€ who knows? Phil Brooks does, and he€™s not telling. And good for him. Disagree? We can imagine a fair few of you probably do. Let us know all about it in the comments!
