12 Secret Mistakes You Didn't Realise WWE Have Already Made In 2024
9. Turning Chad Gable Into A Cartoon Bad Guy
Look, the ongoing Sami Zayn/Chad Gable drama is still clearly one of the most popular storylines going down on the red show at this current moment in time.
But the deafening pops meeting Otis whenever he threatens to finally snap his arrogant teacher in two have been masking one irritating mistake WWE have made in the time since Gable first turned on Zayn following their Intercontinental Championship fight.
Back when folks were originally dreaming about the concept of Gable finally snapping and battering the performer he'd helped conquer GUNTHER at WrestleMania 40, most wanted to see this Alpha Academy leader become a more ruthless and bitter figure whose sole focus was to stop at nothing to bring the title back home to his family.
To me… it just means more.
I wasn’t just randomly reminded of this last night. I wanted to share a piece we made back during the Holidays. I’ve used it as personal motivation and watched it every day as a constant reminder of my why. To me.. it just means more. pic.twitter.com/mPYCoxzNKX

That awful defeat at the hands of 'The Ring General' in 2023 would ultimately create a monster, albeit a very human one who just wanted to make up for the fact he failed in front of the ones he loved.
WWE just went for the cartoonish villain option the second Gable went bad, though, chucking the Olympian into some suits and having him play a two-dimensional bully more bothered about whipping his Academy into shape than avenging losses.
And while that move has still led to Otis getting a bit of love from the crowd, it definitely feels like the company wasted a chance to add yet another complex and fascinating heel figure to their ranks.
