12 Things We Learned From Braun Strowman On The Steve Austin Show
9. Strongman Credentials
In regards to how long Braun spent competing in strongman events, his first contest was in September 2009. He had only been training events on Sundays while still working 60 hours a week at his regular job.
He won that first contest, something called The Beast From The East which was a national qualifier, and he confesses that it really opened his eyes to the caliber of strong human beings that walked this earth.
He was the fastest American to ever turn pro, which he did in November 2011, just a little over two years after his first event. There's only four or five spots a year for guys to step into the next level, and he was able to make the jump.
He qualified for nationals in 2011 and he knew the competition was going to be extremely tough, but he won and it gave him the chance to represent the United States at the Arnold Amateur World Championships in 2012 where faced 52 other athletes from 19 different countries and won 5 of the 7 events he competed in.
