Longtime wrestling fans would have been stunned at the prospect of a Brock Lesnar versus Bill Goldberg rematch, given that their first encounter was often cited as one of the most disappointing matches in WWE history. Nevertheless, that's exactly what happened after both men were featured prominently in the marketing for WWE's 2K17 video game - Goldberg returned to Raw after 12 years, and the match was signed.
Surely, the bout could only be worse given the fact that "Da Man" was now pushing 50, but Goldberg arrived in Toronto looking like he had been cryogenically frozen since 1998. He showed the old WCW dominance, as well, shrugging off a charge to the corner from Lesnar before hitting a pair of spears and a Jackhammer for a shocking victory.
The match was originally scheduled to be a one-off, but prior to the bout, Goldberg agreed to work a program with Lesnar that would build to a WrestleMania bout. As a result, he was once again booked to trounce "The Beast."
