Sting, the 15-time NWA/WCW champion and, latterly, Crow-like mainstay of a fading TNA has been rumoured for a WWE debut for many, many years. While WWE considers him the greatest wrestler never to wrestle in a WWE ring (according to WWE.com) it's been a merry dance he and the company have lead fans over the years - so far lacking in a proper in-ring appearance. Over the last few years the idea has been perpetuated that Sting would go to WWE for one last run involving a Wrestlemania match against The Undertaker, who is apparently very interested in the idea. Of course that has less value now that the streak is over but fans still yearn to see Steve Borden battle it out with a major competitor in WWE. When promo spots alluding to Sting began appearing on RAW earlier this year the excitement among some was palpable. Here comes the Stinger! After a few weeks of teasing and Sting appearing on WWE.com to eulogise his former tag partner The Ultimate Warrior, things were looking rosey. Sting finally appeared on RAW. In a trailer for the videogame WWE 2K15. There was no big debut, no match, no tickertape parade. Sting has recently appeared for WWE at the San Diego Comic-Con, while Triple H himself said, when discussing Sting (kayfabe) "Never say never if it's best for business". The fact that there's a WWE Sting DVD available and that he's locked into what is probably a Legends contract with the brand might mean the door is still open for, you know, some actual wrestling to occur, but in the meanwhile you'll have to make do with vague disappointment.
