12 TNA Talents Unfairly Held Back

4. Awesome Kong

What She Was: The most unique and terrifying woman in all of wrestling for a couple of years. She held the Knockouts Title, had great matches, and delivered ratings often higher than the top paid men in the company despite earning a fraction of what they did. Then she was let go when the company basically had to choose between her and (ugh) Bubba the Love Sponge. What She Should Have Been: A main event act. Yes, main event. TNA has no identity to speak of. They are WWE-lite. Why not push some of the women€™s programs as the biggest angles in the company and see how that would work? The Knockouts division brought them ratings, so as a business decision it made no sense to pay former WWE castoffs healthy six figure salaries, while paying the more popular women less. For casual viewers, seeing Kong was something else. It made you stop changing channels to see exactly who this woman was. Even WWE wanted Kong on their side. Just think of that. While many talented TNA wrestlers have left the company over the years, only Kong and a small handful of others ever got a contract with them. Well played TNA.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
