12 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (November 8 - Results & Review)

11. Swerve Strickland Vs Penta el Zero Miedo

Swerve Strickland

Swerve Strickland and Penta el Zero Mideo clashed in a battle befitting of their pronounced mean streaks, with Strickland going as far to target his opponent's tongue, cynically laughing off his theatrics before settling on dropping him violently on the steel stairs. This was just a starter for the sickos - Prince Nana was game for his charge to break Penta's neck, and when that strategy failed (and Penta bust out his own apron Canadian Destroyer in response), Swerve got nastier still.

A double stomp to the floor bought him the time and energy to beat Penta at his own game - when nothing looked destined to keep the former Tag Team Champion down, Swerve deployed his own version of the brutal arm snap. A Swerve Stomp sealed the best match with spice and spite, even if it existed to at-long-last service an angle that has fallen off badly in recent weeks.

Hangman Page had been banned from ringside for the duration of the bout but was free to roam after the bell. He took full advantage of that, smashing Swerve repeatedly with a steel chair before hitting him with a Deadeye through a table off the ramp. Chasing off Nana and taking out some security midway through the beating, Page at last looked like Swerve's vile home invasion had actually registered. This was better late than never, but so great in execution that it might have just returned the wrestlers to exactly where they need to be ahead of Full Gear.
