12 Ups & 1 Down From Impact Wrestling (May 26)

9. Only Acceptable Choice

Ace Austin advancing to the finals of the World Championships number one contender's tournament was the best choice possible, particularly because his semifinal opponent was Hernandez. There was absolutely no way 'Supermex' could have advanced forward past the former X Division Champion without it becoming a Down.

Though Hernandez was on the offensive for the majority of the bout, it made Ace's victory far better, bouncing back from the onslaught that saw him flung across the ring with no remorse. This sort of match is absolutely where Hernandez is in his element, and Ace Austin for that matter. Despite him being one of the most conniving members of the Impact roster, he works best when fighting back from the ground up.

Granted, it was a sad sight to see Ace focus a good chunk of his attack on Hernandez's hamstring, only for the former LAX member to no-sell the targeted pain mere seconds later, but that was nothing more than a minor Down in an otherwise good match. A good match here, culminating with Hernandez receiving The Fold to ensure Ace Austin advances to the tournament finals. Quality stuff, with the correct choice coming out on top.
