12 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Mar 5)

4. Jake Hager, You're Next

Inner Circle
AEW

It looks like Jon Moxley's first AEW World Championship opponent is going to be Jake Hager, and that makes sense.

'The Big Hurt' was at the hurt of last night's show-closing angle. He played Roman Reigns in the Shield Triple Powerbomb that saw Mox launched off the stage before him and the rest of the Inner Circle continued the digs by mimicking the WWE trio's fist bump with raised middle fingers. On top of this, he's now on a two-match winning streak. He'll probably score one or two more in the coming weeks before we get the title fight on Dynamite, which is exactly how it should play out.

A lacklustre Revolution showing means AEW is wise to get this bout out of the while Hager still has stock, and there's little chance of AEW dragging this out until the next pay-per-view. Perhaps Hager pins Moxley inside Blood and Guts to set it up. Whatever the case, it's a smart, logical choice, and a good name for Mox to overcome in defence number one.
