3. MJF Pinned Cody

Two things stood out in MJF's promo last night:-

1. The "I pinned Cody" t-shirt mimicking Terry Funk's classic "Dusty sucks eggs" number from back in the day.

2. MJF's wonderful jab at his rival's sh*tty ink. "This shirt is obnoxious, regrettable, and quite frankly it's very distracting," he said. "Kind of like a neck tattoo, don't you think?"

Great stuff.

This was a textbook MJF promo in a lot of ways, but a textbook MJF promo is better than most heels' high-level work. Totally full of himself, he said he'd gone from protégé to prodigy at Revolution, called himself the head author AEW could count on, and promised to become the greatest World Champion ever regardless of who has to get through. They're now leaning heavily on his undefeated run too, meaning that whoever eventually topples 'The Salt of the Earth' is in line for a big rub.

The Cody rivalry will swing back around someday but for now, MJF has his sights set on the gold. Only Chris Jericho was ahead of him in the latest set of men's rankings, so perhaps the shot will come around sooner than first thought.
