Hands up who wanted to see KO vs. Shane McMahon continue beyond SummerSlam? That match was everything it needed to be. A shenanigan-filled layout gave the babyface plenty to battle against without being made to overcome unrealistic odds and Owens felled Shane (and Elias) decisively. He didn't screw around; he just beat their arses in under 10 minutes, setting him up for what should've been the next chapter in his career.

Yet here we are, two nights later, and the former 'Prizefighter' is still feuding with Shane. Big sighs all-round.

SmackDown's opening segment was well-performed. Owens was amped up the day after his five-year WWE anniversary and spoke of King of the Ring with passion, while McMahon was at his d*ckish best in handing KO his $100,000 fine. Regardless, SummerSlam felt like the perfect place to end this storyline. It was a solid feud with decent heat that regularly brought out the best in both men, but its time has come and gone. Why does everything need to be stretched beyond its natural conclusion?
