12 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Mar 5)

9. Randy Being Randy

Randy Orton is a cold, uncaring piece of sh*t, and proved it again with last night's promo interruption.

This played out in a manner identical to last week's segment, with AJ Styles getting interviewed by Kayla Braxton backstage. He began with some sympathetic words for Kofi Kingston and bile for WWE Champion Daniel Bryan. He criticised the McMahons for saying they were going to listen to the fanbase then ignoring the clamour for Kingston, before Orton showed up and shot 'The Phenomenal One' down, aghast that AJ would sponsor anyone but himself for a WWE Title shot.

Then came the real bullet: "man, I see why it took you 15 years to get here."

Another short, sharp and effective interaction in this budding rivalry, and though we'll need to start seeing something a little more substantial as the weeks progress, this is a fine way to get Styles vs. Orton started. Neither of them has anything going on at Fastlane, so why complicate matters?
