12 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Feb 18)
7. A Golden Opportunity
For the first time in what feels like forever, Madison Rayne was featured on Impact Wrestling without any sign of Kiera Hogan, as she presented her very first Golden Opportunity Open Challenge. Answering the call was Las Vegas' very own Mazzerati.
There were a few clunky spots in the early going from Mazzerati, which could be put down as her being nervous for what was likely her first appearance on television, but luckily she was in there with an experienced veteran. 'The Queen Bee' actually had a tough fight on her hands here - once she's honed her craft, this Mazzerati lady could very well be a biggish name in Impact's knockouts division.
A beautiful Northern Lights suplex (the best in the business, according to Don Callis), a ripcord cutter, and a Cross Rayne were all highlights from Rayne en-route to her victory here. These open challenges could very easily be one of the major highlights on Impact's weekly events going forward - let's hope they don't just disappear off the face of the planet before they can properly get underway.
