12 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Aug 6)

2. This Could've Used More Time

While your writer had issues with the way last week's scaffolding drop angle was framed and executed, the Roman Reigns whodunit carries genuine intrigue. It's something that WWE could (and should) have feasibly stretched out over a number of weeks before 'The Big Dog' finally got his answer. Unfortunately, though, they started a little too late, and we're now heading into one of the biggest pay-per-views of the year one a two-week build that should've been stretched to four.

How Daniel Bryan will play into this remains to be seen. Regardless, a longer build would've benefitted everyone. Rather than having Buddy Murphy cave in at the first sign of confrontation, WWE could have built a potentially exciting TV match between him and Reigns, giving the former Cruiserweight Championship a decent rub in defeat. From there, the focus could turn to Bryan and Rowan, thus giving us another 1-2 weeks of programming.

While this is a minor complaint, it feels like a wasted opportunity. Still, it's hard to be too critical when this journey's destination is probably Bryan vs. Reigns. That thing's gonna rule.
