12 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Full Gear

1. MJF Turns On Cody

MJF Cody Turn

MJF provided what will go down as Full Gear's biggest talking point by booting Cody in the nuts after his loss to Chris Jericho, finally executing a long-expected heel turn that many probably assumed was still a month or two away. Instead, AEW got right to the point with this storyline, and while time will tell whether or not they jumped the gun, that the arena was such a cauldron of noise after MJF had turned on his "best friend" says everything.

This resonated. Hard.

Though clearly frustrated with his pal, Cody had the good grace to pull the grieving, disconsolate MJF from the mat after the devastating decision. When he turned around, he walked right into the low blow. "It's my turn!", MJF yelled over the corpse, and with big "!*$%!" chants filling the arena, young Maxwell had trash thrown at him when he neared the stage. An open bottle of water doused him as he stood smug at the top of the ramp. Was he rocked? Was he hell.

What better way to turn a guy heel than by ensuring the babyface he's turning on can never challenge for the World Championship again? It's hard to think of one, and this writer can't wait for MJF's Dynamite follow-up.
