12 Ups & 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Jun 25)

8. Niki Cross Is Very Good

Few televised performers have risen as fast as Nikki Cross over the past few months, with the former Sanity woman going from forgotten Superstar Shake-Up flotsam to one of the midcard's most interesting personalities.

WWE still need to do a better job of explaining why Cross is a functioning human being backstage but unhinged between the ropes. Regardless, she came off strong in last night's backstage segment with Alexa Bliss, getting all fired up at the prospect of wrestling Bayley, with 'The Goddess' doing an equally tremendous job of getting Cross' shtick over with her constant side-eyeing.

Low-key, this is a very, very good angle that'll probably result in a split, but should yield plenty of fun material along the way. Kudos to WWE for finding a role that allows Cross to shine.
