12 Ups And 15 Downs For WWE In 2016

6. Byron Saxton

If each fan was given one vote to eliminate an announcer, the overwhelming choice would have to be Raw’s Byron Saxton.

The former NXT wrestler has consistently been the worst commentator on WWE TV all year. Saxton portrays a strange man-child character, getting overly excited about Bayley and New Day and speaking with the wonderment of a 10-year-old, making horrible jokes and constantly being cannon fodder for Corey Graves and Michael Cole.

Saxton adds nothing of substance or interest to the broadcast. While JBL is annoying, he at least had a long career and is knowledgeable of wrestling history. David Otunga might be giving Byron a run for his money as an awful announcer, but the potential is always there to turn Otunga full heel commentator if need be.

Getting rid of Byron would be a big step in the right direction. And you can see the difference with the broadcast team when Austin Aries replaces Saxton for cruiserweight matches. But we’ll have to endure more inane chatter from the weakest link.
