12 Ups And 15 Downs For WWE In 2017 (2nd Opinion)

10. Hardys Return, Get Woken

Try to watch the ladder match at WrestleMania and not get overwhelmed by the crowd reaction when the New Day announced that the Hardy Boyz had returned to WWE. It was a truly special moment during a time when the company tries almost too hard (and often falls short) to deliver “WrestleMania moments.”

Their nostalgia run with the Raw tag titles was a nice deal, but it was also heartening to see that they meshed well with the other teams in the division, and it looked like they would bolster the tag division. However, an untimely injury to Jeff derailed that and forced Matt to go it alone.

Fortunately, that meant that Matt Hardy would soon be able to be “woken.”

Hardy would return to the character that revitalized his career in TNA, but this time as Woken, not Broken, Matt. Naturally, he has been paired up against Bray Wyatt, and the two have delivered dueling promos that require an interpreter. Looking ahead to 2018, we hopefully will see more good things from Woken Matt – and possibly Brother Nero as well.
