12 Weakest Links In WWE Right Now

The real reasons for WWE's decline.

For all that's wrong with WWE today, it's impossible to discount the sheer amount of talent on the roster - former independent stars like Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Cesaro, and Kevin Owens dominate the company's programming, Brock Lesnar is a revelation every time he competes, and John Cena had arguably the best year of his career in 2015. When it comes to the overall capabilities of their superstars, WWE is in fine shape. And yet, the company is completely floundering. Their television output is worse than it's been in a generation, and that's reflected week by week in Raw's ratings. Fortunately for WWE, the company has stumbled upon a business model where TV ratings and pay-per-view buyrates matter a lot less than WWE Network subscriber numbers and stock prices, but it's only a matter of time before the complete ineptitude with which things are run has an impact on the bottom line. There are many weak links in WWE right now, including superstars, divas, other on-screen performers and those behind-the-scenes. There's more than enough blame to go around for the current state of the company, but without these men and women dragging things down, it's possible that fans wouldn't be abandoning the sports entertainment giant en masse.

12. The Miz

Once upon a time, The Miz was an obnoxious reality TV alumnus looking to prove himself in WWE. Despite everyone's rock bottom expectations, he came into his own as part of a successful tag team (with John Morrison), branched out as a singles star, and after showing massive improvement, became WWE Champion and a WrestleMania headliner. After that, it all kind of fell apart - getting squashed by The Rock and John Cena, leaving to make ridiculous and pointless movies, and fluctuating between face and heel alignments have eroded Miz's momentum to the point that, today, he's effectively back where he started, portraying a wannabe crossover star. It's a shame, as The Miz was really producing in 2010. Five years later, though, his sporadic TV appearances take up unnecessary time and remind fans just how far he's fallen. Despite competing for the Intercontinental Championship over the summer, he wasn't taken seriously as a threat, and he failed to advance past the first round of the recent WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament. While he was never a worker on par with Seth Rollins or a draw like John Cena, Miz was fine in his role. Today, however, his appearances mean fans change the channel.
